The project "Spaces for Engagement: Using knowledge to improve public decisions" is a GDNet initiative, implemented in Latin America by CIPPEC. The project aims at using knowledge management to improve bridging research and policy. The underlying purpose is to strengthen debate about how to enhance this practice. Therefore, GDNet and CIPPEC seek to enable more effective interventions for the use of research in policy that lead to more effective public policies in the region. The project also seeks to promote South-South cooperation on linking research and policy between Latin America, Asia and Africa.

Creating local capacity to produce and disseminate policy oriented research is key for improving the quality and effectiveness of public policies in Latin America. Therefore, a number of training and knowledge sharing activities have been developed, from face to face meetings and workshops of virtual tools to share lessons learned.

Objective
Provide technical assistance to participants of the workshop "What do we know about our policy impact?" Workshop on knowledge management, monitoring and evaluation of the influence of evidence based public policies (July 2010), to promote changes within their organizations to strengthen the monitoring, evaluation and Knowledge management for policy influence.

In addition, those participants carried out 5 local workshops in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay involving 46 members of IIP in order to share with their peers what they learned in Buenos Aires' Workshop.
