The project "Spaces for Engagement: Using knowledge to improve public decisions" is a GDNet initiative, implemented in Latin America by CIPPEC. The project aims at using knowledge management to improve bridging research and policy. The underlying purpose is to strengthen debate about how to enhance this practice. Therefore, GDNet and CIPPEC seek to enable more effective interventions for the use of research in policy that lead to more effective public policies in the region. The project also seeks to promote South-South cooperation on linking research and policy between Latin America, Asia and Africa.

Knowledge production

Research and evidence can significantly inform public policies. Through encouraging the production and communication of research in Latin America it is possible to highlight policies and policy aspects in which policymakers should put the eye on and also find a more effective way for civil society to work jointly with the public sector.

Knowledge sharing and capacity building

Creating local capacity to produce and disseminate policy oriented research is key for improving the quality and effectiveness of public policies in Latin America. Therefore, a number of training and knowledge sharing activities have been developed, from face to face meetings and workshops of virtual tools to share lessons learned.
